RipeLine news as of 06/27/11

Great CHERRY news from SHAW ORCHARDS. The supply is still very good and we will continue to offer pick-your-own sweet cherries through July 4th. Availability for next week will depend on traffic this weekend, so watch the website. Sour Cherries are available at our market, as well as ready picked sweet cherries. We have containers, or you may bring your own.

Also great news this week: Our APRICOTS are now available in our market. They are wonderful for snacks, or take them home for jam or cobblers. Last year I froze them to use in my oatmeal, and they were a nutritious treat. Who Knew? Yes they got mushy, but when you cook them, what does it matter? We expect to have apricots for about two weeks.

Our Peaches are not ripe yet, but we expect them to start in about 10 days.

More Good News: Local HONEY is now on deck. Our local supplier has drawn some very light (maybe locust) honey, and we have all sizes now from 12 oz. to 5 lb. We will continue to have local honey until cold weather in October.

The Blueberry crop is full now, so pack up the kids and come pick. It will make great pictures for Facebook. We have ready picked blueberries at our market. Call ahead for large orders.

This week in our market we have Eastern Shore Maryland Sweet Corn and super sweet Lopes, Tomatoes from Lancaster County, Seedless Watermelons, Cucumbers, Green Beans, and Zucchini from Harford County.

We accept Master Card, Visa and Discover at the cherry barn and our at our market.

We are open from 8 to 6 Monday through Friday, 8 to 5 Saturday, and closed Sunday.

We will be open on July 4th from 8 to 4. For more information, please call 717-993-2974 or 410-692-2429.
